Wanda went walkabout at Capelinhos today,

A trusty wheelie walker, she was on her way.

Down the red track she rattled and rolled,

Feeling adventurous, fearless and bold.

Past the black lava, all rugged and rough,

Wanda declared, "This is easy enough!"

But over the ridge, with a wobble and sway,

The walker had other ideas this grey day.

She clattered on rocks, she stumbled on stone,

And muttered, "I really should have stayed home!"

But the waves were spectacular, crashing with might,

So Wanda pressed on, determined to sight.

Wanda was stubborn, as stubborn could be,

And refused to be beaten by rock to watch sea.

She'd conquered the track and the ridge was a breeze,

Though getting back up might bring her to knees.

At the edge, she stopped to enjoy the view,

Of the foaming Atlantic, magnificent blue.

The air was damp with promise of rain,

The old lighthouse looked out with disdain.

Back to the car, with a rattle and clack,

Wanda the walker her dignity intact.

"Adventure," she chuckled, "is all very well,

But next time I'll choose better path to watch swell!"

So if you should wander where lava meets sea,

And hear someone cackling quite merrily,

Watch for wheelie walker bouncing along,

It's Wanda at Capelinhos, singing her song!
