Wanda Wanders Coastal Path

Off we went this morning,

Along the coastal way.

Me and her go out,

To greet the sea today.

We headed for the beach path,

The sea was looking fine,

Then suddenly…a barrier!

For me it’s not designed.

“Come on, girl, you can do this.”

She expected me to squeeze.

I performed the limbo,

I was nearly on my knees!

And then I saw the ocean,

Oh, this is rather grand!

I rolled towards the shoreline,

And then I met…the SAND!

“Nope! I’m not going any further,

You really need to know.

My wheels were made for firmer paths,

Not sand that’s soft and slow!”

She tried to push and coax me,

She tried a gentle plea.

But I have my boundaries, you know,

And soft sand is not for me!

So there I stayed, quite dignified,

With view of open sea.

No walking required right now,

Wave-watching for her and me.

Waves crashed upon the shore,

Some curled and slipped away.

I gave each one a proper look,

What a lovely start to day.

I may not be her hiking boots

Though I’ve discovered something sweet:

Wave watching is really good for her,

As she sits upon my seat.

Walking’s not my human’s thing,

For distances these days.

That’s why I’m Wanda, Wheelie Walker,

Queen of Coastal Ways!
